Hi!
I’m Betty a.k.a. Nim. Welcome to my corner of the internet. I’ve blogged off and on for 24 years and enjoyed doing it. Blogs have changed a lot since they first became a “thing.” They’ve morphed into full blown websites, plastered with ads and optimized for search engines. It’s great to see so many “bloggers” turn their passions into profitable businesses. That is not the goal of this blog.
“If you’re not here to make money, why blog?”
To share things like my love of Jesus and how that affects everything in my life. My interests: photography, reading, baking, movies & series along with art, crafts, gardening and gaming. This grandma has been a gamer since Pong hit the scene.
Who is Nim?
I’m a wife, happily married to a guy from Kansas. He’s my best friend, the calm to my chaos and the guy who builds all the MtG Commander decks I play. We met while playing Everquest. More on that in a bit.
I’m a mama to three grown men. As much as I miss them as little boys, I enjoy doing life with them as adults. When they were little I prayed that we’d always be close and that they’d choose to hang out with mama vs. feeling obligated to hang out with mama. God answers prayer. We talk regularly on the phone, get together each month to step away from the craziness of life and just enjoy each other’s company. They’ve been my gaming buddies since they got their first consoles.
I’m a grandma to a couple grandnuggets who are growing up too fast. They make me laugh, smile and teach me how to remain young at heart.
I’m a retired photographer. Retired from the business side of it all. Now, I shoot for the love of it, for my family and for my church. It’s been such an amazing thing to capture baptisms, services and outreach events through my home church. Photography will always hold first spot in my heart when it comes to hobbies. As a kid I loved looking through photos at my grandparents’ homes and wondering what each person’s life was like at that very moment. Along with photos, I started documenting our lives through video. The one thing I miss the most when I think about loved ones who have gone home to be with the Lord, is the sound of their voices. So, I capture sounds and everyday moments for not only me to look back on, but for my family when I’m gone.
What’s the Most Important Thing You Want Us to Know About You?
That I’m a servant of Christ.
I’ve been saved for several decades now, but it took a long time for me to break the chains of generational Christian behavior. Once I surrendered completely and let God guide my every step, joy and peace overflowed. This is not a declaration of having an easy-peasy life. There are things that are hard but God has my back in every situation. There’s no reason to worry or try to fix things on my own. God’s got me. He’s always provided. He’s always protected. He’s always been there, even when I wasn’t walking obediently. It took me a long time to realize that someone could love me THAT much. Now, I don’t ever look back because my heart is aligned with God’s.
