The Star and the Shamrock Book Series

Once again Kindle Unlimited delivers! After reading the Robinswood Series by Jean Grainger early in the year I added Jean Grainger to my list of favorite authors. I don't always read crime/suspense/mystery novels. Even I need a break from that and thankfully that's where these books fit nicely for me. Historical fiction is another favorite genre especially anything set in WWI or WWII.
Once I picked up The Star and the Shamrock I couldn't put it down. Read it in a little over a day and jumped right into The Emerald Horizon, book 2 of the series. Jean Grainger creates characters that I become attached to almost immediately. With every page I'm pulled into their lives and feel everything they're feeling thanks to the wonderful writing. I enjoyed the Robinswood books but I'm absolutely in love with this series and can't wait for book 3 to publish on June 29th.
In The Star and the Shamrock we meet two women and experience their love of two children, Lisl and Erich. Arielle Bannon, their mother makes the agonizing choice to place her children on the last Kindertransport out of Berlin. Staying in the city is becoming more and more dangerous and so she sends her children to live with her husband's cousin in Ireland. A cousin she's never met but what else is she to do?
Elizabeth Bannon Klein never knew her father's brother, let alone her cousin but agrees to take in Lisl and Erich. How can she refuse? She never saw herself becoming a mother after tragically miscarrying her only child after learning that her beloved Rudi is killed just hours before the end of World War I. Currently living in Liverpool, England she opens her home and her heart to the children and comes to love them as her own.
I just love the way each book is written, telling the stories of these two women who are doing what they need to do to survive in hopes of one day coming together to reunite mother and children. Love, love, love them. The descriptions on the author's page and on Amazon do a much better job than I ever could.
