WE Love WWII Movies

Today was and still is grey. Grey clouds, grey moods everywhere and now drizzling, cold rain to complete the grey feel. We forced ourselves to put on something other than sweatpants and t-shirts in order to do a bit of shopping. Jeans and t-shirts worked because we're simple people. The trip was successful even if we encountered no less than five people who didn't bother to wear their mask properly. Yes, vaccines are available but ahem, there is still an ongoing pandemic. Most days I cherish life in this small town but since COVID 19 turned the world upside down there are more days when I dislike living here. The high point of the trip was our checker at the market. She was wonderful! We usually end up with a person who scans and scans until our food is being smash together on the belt. I get that working with the public is no easy task but we're friendly, clean and don't complain about every little thing. We just expect our bread to not be smashed between bottles of soda after we've taken the time to place them on the belt properly.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
A dreary, grey afternoon screams for a good movie so we decided to watch one of our WWII favorites.
We loved it the first time we watched it last July when it premiered on Apple+ streaming. It works because it's a grey day and it works because we want to binge our Tom Hanks collection of movies for the next several days. You'll find mixed reviews as with any movie. A movie doesn't have to be all about explosions and stupidly loud music. There was a time when I considered having a blog that was focused on reviews of movies, series and books. Had my eyes on a course at the local community college to help me with the writing so that everything was in the form of a review.
Pssssh. I write about what I like and why I like it. Also, I'm not one to conform. I guess I should have put a disclaimer on this post warning folks who are looking for an actual review. You won't find it here. It's just me, rambling on about a Tom Hanks movie that both my husband and I enjoyed. The only downside about it in fact is that we can't buy it for our digital collection. Well played Apple, well played.
I thought I'd write a post for the blog, share this movie and then mix a drink before we settling back on the couch to watch Fury. Not a Tom Hanks movie I know but it's TANKS and WWII!! Off I go! Happy viewing!
