Ribbon Wreaths | Making Christmas
The change of seasons must be affecting me because I haven’t been feeling well the past couple of days. It’s like my body wants desperately to catch a cold. There’s no fever but I’m sluggish, have a scratchy throat and I’m sneezing all the time. So I’m lounging around the house, reading, crafting and watching Christmas movies on Hallmark.
When I was at Walmart last week I fell in love with this holly berry ribbon in the Christmas section. Of course I only bought one roll and I was kicking myself about that for a few days. One roll was enough to do a complete wreath and 1/3 of the second so I ran down to the store again hoping to get additional rolls of ribbon. I looked on every shelf and behind all the container but couldn’t find any so I wandered off to pick up the other items I needed. Knowing I didn’t see the roll of ribbon that I needed I still went back to the holiday section to look again because I’m the “Maybe there will be a ribbon miracle” kinda’ gal. Sure enough, there was one roll hiding behind a box I thought I checked. It was a “Thank you Jesus" moment because I tend to thank Him for every little thing.
I wanted to pick up a few holly berry sprays/picks if I could find them but we’re talking Walmart here, not Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I did find a package of 18 red jingle bells that I thought would work and I’m pretty darn happy with the results. Now I have to hang them on the shutters in the dining room. Part of me wants to add some more doo-dads to the wreath but I tend to wait and see how I feel about projects after a couple of days. For now, I’m calling it complete.
After watching at least 10 YouTube video tutorials for ribbon wreaths I landed on Julie’s Wreath Boutique channel and found this wonderful how-to :
I love it because it’s easy and she explained it so well. I used 8-inch wire wreath forms that I bought from the Dollar Tree to make these but I intend to use the same technique for the 14-inch wire forms I picked up a few weeks ago. I can see using this to make wreaths for each season.
I made two wreaths from two rolls with a lot leftover. Pretty sure I could make a third wreath with the remainder. Eighty-four 4 inch zip ties were used and I think I like them a lot better than using chenille stems a.k.a. pipe cleaners. Overall I’m happy and that’s all that counts. Now if I can get this wannabe cold to go away my week will be much better!
Peace,
B
