FFXIV: What We've Been Up To
I started uploading my FFXIV screenshots to a gallery here on the blog. There are so many of them it’s going to take a few days. I have such a great time taking “pictures” in-game. Since we returned to Final Fantasy 14 in January of 2021, I’ve used the Fantasia elixirs a handful of times. I started as a Lalafell, became a Viera, then settled into Elezen until a month ago when I changed my race back to Lalafell. Nyk (Nykonis) changed from Elezen to Lalafell too. Since I put a lot of thought into character names, I paid for a name change. Bindy Bandersmash suits the Lalafell much better than my Elezen name, Draeza Dkon.
Now that Square Enix started adding older dungeons from previous expansions to the Trust System, I’m looking forward to creating alts. The beauty of FFXIV will always be that you can do all things on one character. From tanking roles to gathering roles, you can do it all on one character. It’s been a breath of fresh air after playing WoW where I had multiple alts.
Our characters as Elezens: Nykonis and Draeza
The switch to Lalafell on our mains: Booker and Bindy
Taking a lot of screenshots allows me to capture all the changes we make and also capture some of the best environmental graphics I’ve seen in any MMOrpg to date. Square Enix goes above and beyond when creating new zones for the game. We spend a lot of time just exploring and appreciating the gorgeous work they do. Being a photographer makes it even more satisfying and if my hubby had a nickel for each time I exclaimed, “Ohhhhh golden hour looks amazing in this zone!!” well we’d have a lot of nickels.
Here are a few new screenshots I took over the past several days.
Bindy on the beach in Thavnair after doing a bit of night fishing.
Another on the beach in Thavnair. I edit the screenshots in Photoshop.
Relaxing in the hot spring outside our house in The Mists.
This is the first time we’ve played current content as new patches drop for the Endwalker expansion. We’re working on Beast Tribe quests, gathering legendary mats for higher tier end-game crafting and leveling in Eureka. There’s no lack of things to do in this MMO and it’s what we’ve wanted from all the other MMOs we played throughout the years.
This game continues to surprise and entertain us every time we play.
