Baseball and The Boy

Meet L, my oldest grandson. This year he decided he wanted to play baseball even though we all know he loves basketball more. He can’t play basketball until he’s 14 years old. The young ladies with him as he swings the bat are from our high school softball team. They give their time to help the kids stay engaged, run along with them when they get a hit and chat them up while they’re on base or standing in the field with their gloves. My grandson is part of the the Challenger League here in our hometown. Today was his first game and even though he kept saying he wanted to play basketball, he stuck it out for the designated hour and told us he had fun.

My son and daughter-in-law have done everything they can to include him in everything. With love and patience through the years he’s able to go out to dinner, the arcades, even sit through a movie. He’s an absolute whiz at video games This apple doesn’t fall far from the gamer family tree he’s part of that’s for sure.

The next image below is my favorite of the day. I added a baseball sticker to cover up the boys larger than life plumber’s crack. Bless his aid, Ash. Once she realized his Dad was calling out to him to ask him to pull up his britches, she helped him out. The world needs more young people like the young women on our softball team. I’m so grateful they volunteer their time and I’m thankful for all the coaches in the Challenger League.

While L said he enjoyed playing there was no doubt what he loved most today. The chance to make himself big ole’ cup of Kona Ice from the Kona truck at the field.

Welcome to spring and baseball! I need to make myself a t-shirt!

Peace,

Nim
