Philly With the Firstborn
May has been busy!
My oldest P, loves to travel. Last year he and L went to Italy for a month. The year before that they visited northern Scotland and this year he decided to stay stateside. He and L visited St. Augustine, FL, Disney, Key West and New Orleans before getting home. I joined them for the last few days before L had to fly home to Argentina. We decided to head to Philadelphia and visit the Museum of the American Revolution. What a wonderful museum! I was only sorry that hubby had to work and couldn’t join us because he would have enjoyed it. My son is an Engineer with Comcast and one of his perks is that he can visit many of the sites in Philadelphia free and take several people with him.
The biggest highlight of the museum trip was getting to see the museum film Washington’s War Tent. I love history and got a bit emotional as the actual tent materialized behind panels on display. It is the crown jewel of all the exhibits at the museum.
We visited Elfreth’s Alley, and wandered through the city to a few favored food stops: Insomnia Cookies, Han Dynasty restaurant and for dessert, Franklin Fountain. The service there is wonderful and the ice cream is so good. I can’t believe I actually finished my Franklin Mint sundae! And I rode the PATCO train for the first time ever! I’m not a city girl but thanks to L&P, I think I’ll be heading back to the City of Brotherly Love very soon.
