Switching Things Up
Blog Status
Going to make Fifty-nine Forward my blog for all things FFXIV and gaming. It's good for that and the account is paid for a year. I'll decide what to do when the year is over. My choices then will be to either continue the annual subscription with Wordpress through GoDaddy or move the blog over to my Squarespace account. I reactivated my account on Squarespace and will post all my personal, art, crafting, cooking etc. through that website: BETRMOMENTS.COM
Who Was I Kidding?
Lasted nearly two weeks on Facebook. I deleted the account before coming here to write this entry. There just comes a time when you can't stand the hypocrisy and phoniness. While my sons have FB accounts only one is active there. I don't need to be on that platform to catch up with my kids. They're part of my life in person and I'm blessed that we see, talk and game together regularly even when they have crazy work schedules.
I grew tired of people saying and acting one way then showing their true colors on Facebook. And honestly the whining and lamenting about "Facebook is like the Nazi's controlling my free speech." "I'm in Facebook jail again for reacting to/liking/commenting on blah blah blah... Facebook is denying my First Amendment rights." Uhm, hello?
Facebook is a corporate entity that provides a social platform where individuals can connect with family, friends, co-workers and follow sports teams, celebrities and grands they like. They offer this service, your account, at no charge to you. FREE. You sign up and it's FREE. Therefore they set the rules because it's THEIR platform. If they fact check you and shut you down obviously you broke the rules. If you don't want to follow the rules then by all means delete your account. Then you're free to hire the necessary talent to build a social media platform where you set the rules and you can share to your heart's content. But you're on their property. You're taking up space on their servers. You exist there RENT FREE.
Look, I loathe Facebook for all the crap they've pulled over the years and it made me feel dirty to start a new account. I get that some people spend all their time on Facebook because it's what they have but it's just not for me. Life is too short to be spent sifting through regurgitated memes and posts shared over and over and over again. It's fantasy land there. People offering up their likes on posts that bash the former President and/or the current President. Vile posts about politicians whether they're conservative or liberal.
People don't share ideas. They scream their views in hopes of drowning out all other views.
Everyone is busy drawing lines in the sand, slinging mud and declaring "You're either with me or against me. There is no middle ground."
Heaven help all of us middle grounders.
IN CONCLUSION...
Gaming here and personal blogging over there.
Peace & love y'all.
