My love of reading started at an early age and Dad indulged it by taking me to the local library every two weeks. This continued well into my 20s but then reading took a backseat to raising sons and surviving each day in an unhappy marriage. Fortunately that marriage ended and several years later I met and married my soulmate who is an avid reader.

But the voraciousness didn't return until early 2019 when I changed genres. For years I read fantasy books which is my husband's favorite genre. He has a collection of books by R.R. Salvatore, Margaret Weiss, C.S. Friedman, Robert Jordan and J.K. Rowling. Each year he re-reads those books and seldom purchases anything new. But I decided to branch out after looking at recommendations from Kindle Unlimited.

Since I'm a huge fan of police procedural and crime television shows I looked for something in that genre and went with The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza. I couldn't put it down and immediately tore through every available book in his Erika Foster series. Recently he took a break from writing more Erika stories to create a new character, Kate Marshall. I pre-ordered Nine Elms and of course loved it and all the characters. Shadow Sands, book 2 in the series has a November 3, 2020 publication date and I can't wait to read it!

I read through all six books and wanted more but that's when I found out the the author was working on a new series. At least I'll have a book from him this year. But I did find the Detective Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons. I'm devouring books now at a rate that makes me thankful to have Kindle Unlimited. I'm averaging 4 books a month especially during this pandemic.

There are several books that I've read in the last year through Kindle Unlimited that were so good that I purchased them for my Kindle reader library.

Kindle Unlimited made it easy for me to try read books outside of the fantasy genre and I've found several authors to follow. By the way, this isn't a sponsored post. I just love Kindle Unlimited and I'm thankful I get to read so much. The next batch of stories to read include: Last Day by Luanne Rice, Where the Lost Wander: A Novel by Amy Harmon, The Dressmaker's Gift by Fiona Valpy and A Killer's Wife (Desert Plains Book 1) by Victor Methos. I'm currently reading The Star and the Shamrock by Jean Grainger. I recently finished her series of 3 books called The Robinswood Story and added her to my favorite authors list.

These should keep my busy for most of the summer and there's nothing better than lounging by the pool with a tall glass of iced tea and a good book to read.
