Back in Borderlands 3

The Borderlands franchise has always been a favorite of my husband and sons but it wasn't a game for me. At least that's what we both thought

My hubby and I share a love of gaming so it made sense for him to introduce me to Borderlands. At the time he was playing it on the xBox One. I'm terrible with the newest controllers. TERRIBLE. With a controller I wasn't able to make my character run in a straight line much less engage with enemy NPCs. We laughed about the situation and I returned to playing my MMOs on my computer.

On a whim I downloaded Destiny 2 when it was available on the Battlenet Launcher. I figured what the heck and I have a problem saying no to free games. After playing for an hour I felt my husband's presence over my shoulder.

"What's this?"

"Destiny 2. I figured I'd check it out."

He watched me maneuver easily across terrain, (thank you Guild Wars 2 jump puzzles for helping me become a better platformer.) seamlessly swap between weapons as needed and use strategic tactics to work with a group of random players.

"You can play Destiny 2? Holy crap, you can play Destiny 2 and you're doing really well!"

"It's fun and I'm still learning."

The encounter ended with a group score of S+. My personal score was an A.

"No, hon, you can actually play the game. Your problem isn't first person shooters! It's the controller! Give you a mouse and keyboard and you're fine!"

He immediately purchased two copies of Borderlands 2 and we started to play. That was two years ago and I'm in love with the game. We were so excited with the Borderlands 3 reveal we pre-ordered it.

Now that World of Warcraft finds itself at the end of one expansion as players await the release of "Shadowlands" we decided to hop back into Borderlands 3. Last night we finished the "Guns, Love and Tentacles" DLC and happily got our characters to the new max level of 57. I play Moze, the Gunner class in the game while my husband plays Zane, the Operative. We're in the process of tweaking our builds and farming the exact weapons we need to push further into levels of Mayhem.

It's a nice face paced pick me up after playing several months of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I'm obsessed with that game but I'll save that for another post.
