We Went Into the Out
Instead of shopping locally we ventured over the bridge to do our shopping at BJ’s Warehouse. Perhaps it was the fact that we got our first Pfizer shot or the news that the CDC revised restrictions for fully vaccinated folks. We won’t be fully vaccinated until May 12th. We’ll still carry hand sanitizer and wipes in our car as well as wear masks. Why? Because people are two things...

How are you going to prove who is fully vaccinated? The upside is that we can hang out with the family without them having to hardcore quarantine for 14 days. It’s great news because pool season is just around the corner and I can’t wait to open our pool! Even the grandkids know without being told. It was warm here yesterday and my youngest grandson asked to go to Grandma’s house so he could swim.
They’re sandblasting the bridge again. It takes a beating throughout the year. Of course no construction site is complete without a patriotic port-a-pot. Thankfully we’re no longer under a gale force wind warning. It’s windy enough up there.

Best part of our shopping trip was finding a decent beef brisket! It’s about a dollar more a pound now. They don’t carry USDA Prime like Costco. I found that the price of $6.99 per lb. for USDA Prime brisket seemed inexpensive at first. They offer that price because you have to trim the fat yourself. There were times when I would trim 6 pounds of fat off a 12 lb brisket. That $84 piece of meat actually costs $14 per lb. Plus you're doing more work! Brisket talk. I can go on and on and on. The bottom line is that I managed to get one after a year of going without in our area. After my prep and hours of smoking it will be tender, juicy and full of flavor.
