Wine Festival

It’s a scorcher out there today and the heat wore me out. I went to the local wine festival with my daughter-in-law. We stayed about 90 minutes before calling it a day. Neither of us are fans of the heat and it was 92° when we made it to the park. With the humidity they say it feels like 99°. We were supposed to meet up with my friend and her daughter-in-law but unfortunately they showed up as we were leaving. Her son got called into work which is unavoidable so they were running later than they planned. But that’s life. My own son runs into that so it was nice that Brit and I actually got a chance to do something together.

The turnout was nice when we got there. We only had to wait a couple minutes at each vendor before we could taste what they brought.

I wish the weather had been cooler so Brit and I could have lingered longer, listened to music and grabbed a bit of lunch but Mother Nature is pretty unpredictable. Next year I’m going to wait until one or two days before the event to buy tickets. That way we can decide if we want to make it a family affair.

Speaking of Family Affair, that was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I was only four years old when it premiered but I remember watching episodes after school because it was in syndication. For years I missed so many of the shows I grew up with so I’m thankful that retro TV networks exist now. It’s nice to watch The Waltons, Emergency, Starsky and Hutch, Baretta and so many more. I love them as much today as I did back in the 70s even if I have to revert to standard definition watching!

Time to get back on track.

The wine festival started in 2015 as a way to bring in more people and businesses to our town. It’s been going strong since then even after cancelling due to the pandemic.

It’s an enjoyable adult event and I’m hoping that it grows to include even more vendors. Ten vineyards were present on Saturday. If we go next year I’m going to take a wagon with me. Thankfully, my daughter-in-law carries a large bag/purse so we put the bottles in there until we reached a vendor that actually brought bags for purchases. I forgot my bag when hubby dropped us off at the park. I think the vendors without bags hadn’t made the changes to stock with the new law prohibiting the use of plastic bags for purchases. We’ll be better prepared for next year!

Peace!
