So Much to Watch!
We watched Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 last night. Yup. Dedicated our entire evening to watching both episodes with a total run time of 3 hours 55 minutes. It was the best way to spend Friday night. The Duffer Brothers and cast of Stranger Things did not disappoint. Since it just dropped yesterday, I won’t say more because I’ll definitely drop spoilers without thinking about it. I will say this though, Season 5 is confirmed. The Duffer Brothers said that they always felt the story needed 4-5 seasons to tell it. To bring everything to a conclusion was too big for season 4 so Netflix approved season 5. YAY!
Our kids, Frikkles and Willow were out last night with the grandnuggets and sent a text to the family group chat asking if anyone’s Netflix was down. They had connection issues.
Their connectivity problem had nothing to do with the 30-minute outage that some Netflix customers experienced at 3 a.m. when the episodes dropped on the streaming service. We went to bed shortly after so I’m not sure if they watched it or not. Until they confirm they’re caught up the lips are zipped and the blog on lockdown, hahaha!
PRIME VIDEO
Found a new suspense/action/drama series on Amazon when I went to resubscribe to a channel. Chris Pratt? Navy SEALs? Conspiracy? Heck yes!! The trailer is enticing, and I mentioned it to the hubs. We’ll start watching this on Monday for sure! I want to watch it tonight but the guys are getting together to play cards so it gets pushed to Monday. I might be able to wait.
The Terminal List
HULU
The Old Man
Another stellar cast for an FX original that we’ll be watching on Hulu. We stream everything except football. That and the fact that hubs works for a communications company are the reasons we still have cable. I think the last thing I actually watched on cable TV was the local news and well we all know I avoid the news like the plague.
We added this to our list because it hits on several things for us. The series creators are Robert Levine and Jonathan E. Steinberg who wrote for the series Black Sails, SEE and Jericho. It stars Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat and Amy Brennerman. It’s in the Action, Drama and Thriller genres which we love. Can’t wait to dig into this one and I recently read that season 2 is already confirmed.
Only Murders in the Building
Season 2 is here!! Season 2 is here!! We haven’t watched the first episodes yet because we know ourselves all too well. We’ll watch one and then whine about having to wait a week for the next episode. We’re avoiding sites and reviews because the internet is evil but we’re looking forward to a weekend binge session when the final episode drop
BRITBOX
Vera Season 11
Brenda Blethyn is one of my favorite British actresses. I’m a huge fan of crime/suspense/thriller series and the UK produces the majority of my favorites. When BritBox and AcornTV became a thing, I was all in. Seasons of Vera are a bit split between both streaming services due to legal things but since I love both platforms it’s fine. I put both on haitus for a couple months because I have been watching a lot of Paramount+ and Hulu in recent weeks. Once the trailer for Season 11 of Vera popped up on Amazon I subscribed again.
There was a time when we had several months each year with nothing new to watch. Now, we’re bouncing from one service to the next because there is a ton of great original programming on Hulu, Prime, BritBox, ParamountTV, AcornTV, and Disney+. Disney+ needs a post of its’ own and I’ll get to that a bit later.
Time to stop writing about all the great shows to watch and go watch.
Peace,
Nim
