Moments: Queen Elizabeth II Passed Away Today
Today was meant to be a day to return to the blog as I begin to move posts here from another platform. But today was spent watching the news. When I woke up this morning, the first news story I glanced over was that medical staff were extremely concerned about Queen Elizabeth's health. I knew in my gut that the day would end and with it an era. I saw the photo of her prior to her meeting with the new British PM, Liz Truss. Her hands were dark purple and while she had an amazing smile on her face, I just knew we'd be bidding this amazing woman farewell.
I'm not British, except in ancestry, but for all of my 60 years I've felt kindred to all things British. Over the years I've followed the Royal family and have felt closer to them than any President of my own country. It was inevitable. She was 96 years old and since the death of her beloved Phillip, her health has slowly degraded. She always put on a brave face; it was something you could count on. She was unwavering in her love of family, country and her duty to both. I'm crying as I type this post. At 60 years of age, I have never known a time without Queen Elizabeth as Monarch. This is one of the moments in your life that you always remember.
