Two Weeks Have Flown By!

I’ve been missing from the blog for a couple weeks now and I blame it on gaming. Both of our main games dropped new content on the same day and this is the first moment I’ve had to spend time on the blog. Between gaming and life the blog sometimes drops on the priority list.

FFXIV released the long awaited patch 6.2 patch with the new Island Sanctuary. It’s a mix of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. It’s not meant to be a game within the game but the amount of time and detail the FFXIV devs put into it is absolutely amazing and very much appreciated. Everyone gets their only island sanctuary once they’ve finished the level 90 MSQ (Main Story Quest) titled Endwalker. When unlocked a player heads off to the hub, Old Sharlayan and talks to the Clueless Crier. The NPC is near the aetherite.

Follow along with the quest line and in no time flat you’ll be running around your own island paradise. It’s where I’ve been for the past couple of weeks.

I made a video of the current state of my sanctuary. I’m not a pro at videos and apologize for bad angles or sharp turns. Mount speeds are much faster on the island than in the regular game and I didn’t think about that when I recorded it.

My Island Sanctuary in FFXIV

Since recording this a few days ago, I hit rank 9 and currently only need about 11K experience to obtain rank 10. It’s been a nice side venture to take a break from leveling other classes and trying to finish all the Fates in Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Since both FFXIV and Destiny 2 dropped new content on the same day, I’ve been splitting my time between both games.

Season 18 Titan

Season 18 Warlock

Season 18 Hunter. This is the first time I’ve leveled the Hunter class.

Season 18 - Season of Plunder dropped on August 23rd and we’ve been playing a lot. Are we rank 100 yet? No, but we’re getting there. Like I said we split time between the two games when we have time to sit at the computer and actually play. Family life comes first even if the kids are all grown. We’re a tight-knit family so we’re always doing something together, especially if that something involves BBQ, hanging by the pool, playing Cornhole or Magic the Gathering.

Season 18, the pirate season has been a blast so far and I’m loving my current build. Arc 2.0 was busted at launch so I continued to run solar. Now that Arc is fixed, I don’t feel the need to switch over. The changes they made are fantastic but I’m just not comfortable with a melee build. I do intend to run Arc on my Warlock and at least check it out on Hunter. We’ve been banging out bounties, running Ketchcrash and Expeditions to boost not only our rank but our power levels. Sitting at 1577 on my Titan and feeling pretty solid. At the moment I’m looking for an energy weapon for my load out. I’m using a solar scout rifle at the moment and while I don’t hate it, I’m not giddy over it. But there’s plenty of time to find that one weapon that sings to me.

The one thing I can say is that I’m over SMGs. When I first started playing Destiny 2 my load-out always included an SMG. After several years in Destiny 2 I find myself using them only when a bounty requires it OR if I’m running a particular Ketchcrash scenario. Then I rely heavily on my Osteo Striga. I love that gun when we’ve got swarms of enemies because it shoots toxic projectiles that track enemy targets. Hit the enemy with some rapid precision shots and it triggers a burst of poison that affects your target and all enemies close to it. It’s a room clearer for sure.

So that’s it for now. My perfectly valid excuse for being away from the blog. I’ve also started my holiday and seasonal crafting. Last week all the supplies I need for Christmas arrived. Now I just need to cut vinyl and get to the business of creating gifts for the people I love.

Peace
