Moon and Macro | Photography
Normally I’d post these under Wordless Wednesday but I felt like typing words today. The temperatures this week have been wonderfully warm so we got soil for our raised vegetable beds and began to fill them. This is the first year growing vegetables even though we talked about it since we bought the house almost 10 years ago. I’m excited grow my own tomatoes for homemade spaghetti sauce. Also, I’m a Jersey girl and love tomato sandwiches. There’s nothing better than a fresh garden tomato on toasted slices of home-baked bread.
While working in the yard I noticed the moon was visible during daylight hours so I grabbed a few shots with my Nikon Coolpix P900. The only downside with this daytime moon images is that the blue sky isn’t as light blue as it appears to the naked eye once you zoom to 2000mm. The first image is close but definitely not exact.
Early this afternoon I grabbed my Nikon D7000 and went out into the backyard to give the “new to me” Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP AF/MF 1:1 Macro lens a try. Since I’m considering purchasing a mirrorless camera, I wasn’t going to buy more glass for the D7000 but I found a used one, in excellent condition on Amazon. It worked out well since I had a gift card to use. Total cost was $104. I couldn’t pass on it.
The lens is wonderful even if I didn’t see any bumble bees buzzing around this afternoon. I was really hoping to capture a few of them flitting from dandelions to purple dead nettles before we have to mow the area. Hubby bought me a new bird feeder pole and two feeders so I set them up. Hopefully our feathered friends will take notice soon and I can spend some time bird watching and snagging some great photos.
Peace,
B
