Wednesday's Word
Welcome to Wednesday. I’m a little late in issuing that welcome because this is the first chance I’ve had to sit down at the computer. That’s a good thing I suppose and I’m still jotting down ideas for this website as the Lord lays them on my heart. Wednesday posts have been reserved for “Wordless Wednesday” which is basically a cute way of saying, “Hey, here’s a photo I took or an image I created!” In addition to Wordless Wednesday, I’m adding “Wednesday’s Word” and I’ll be sharing a Bible verse that speaks to me that day.
Today’s Bible verse came to me after spending a little time on Facebook. Today, I noticed that a lot of folks post things in a defensive manner when they perceive that others might be looking down on them, judging them, or saying untrue things about them. For whatever reason, people have made assumptions about them without even getting to know them. That’s always been a problem but it’s bigger these days. We need to look inside ourselves before saying anything negative about anyone else. And that brings up my recent study of John Chapter 8.
Jesus is sitting amongst the people and teaching them when the Pharisees bring a woman before Him. They put her in front of everyone and Jesus. Imagine being shoved in front of strangers, all their eyes upon you as the powers that be are trying to trip up Jesus when they tell Him she’s been caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses clearly states that she should be stoned and they ask Jesus what his thoughts are on the matter.
Jesus crouches down and begins writing in the dirt, remaining silent. The Pharisees kept demanding that He answer them. And Jesus says, “Let the one without sin among you, be the first to throw a stone at her.” You know what happened? Nothing. Not a stone was thrown and eventually everyone wandered off, even the religious scholars.
Stop casting stones. You do it whenever you utter a single word about someone else, when you judge someone else based on gossip, or your perception of them. None of us are without sin. Which brings me to today’s Word, because we need to focus on something other than negativity.

Because of Jesus, I don’t have to create passive-aggressive posts about others when I feel attacked. I give it to God and focus on all the beauty He provides each day. Peace is attainable through Christ Jesus, but first you have to step back and let the Lord do what HE does best.
Have a blessed Wednesday!
