August Blessings!!

Wow, August has been an incredible month at church. From hanging out at the church tent during the Salem County Fair to taking part in Vacation Bible School for the Special Needs community. It has been such a blessing to see how much the Lord is working in and through our church. Five evenings of crafts, stories, singing, dancing and of course snack time! Our church has been involved with this community for several years now. It all started with the local Challenger League and it’s grown by leaps and bounds. Earlier we hosted an awards banquet for the baseball players. The local Little League organization never had one for them and our church felt called to provide that experience for them.

These events hold a special place in my own heart above and beyond my attending this church. My grandson is autistic and I see how marginalized kids, teens and adults like him are in society. Stepping into something like this is a challenge, but we trusted God to show us the way and He did. Everyone had an amazing time. We laughed, danced and cried with parents as they told us time and time again how much it meant to them. It meant so much to each one of us that gave our time this week. I’m incredibly proud of our church teens that gave their time to each night as buddies to all of the attendees. They are filled with so much empathy and share their love of Christ so well.

Five nights of high energy VBS kept us on our toes and it was nice to be able to fellowship with each other at the monthly church BBQ. But it’s not merely a BBQ. Each month we celebrate baptisms. Our August celebration include THREE baptisms which is incredible! God is doing so much and we know there’s so much more to come.

After church on Sunday, we were hosted by the parents of one of our church family. Mr. and Mrs. McCoy were so gracious to invite us to their home and give us use of their beautiful pool for the baptisms. It was heated too! That made it really nice because the temperatures have been dropping at night into the 60s. That’s unusual for this time of year.

It was an afternoon/evening filled with great food, wonderful fellowship, singing and celebrating the three women who took the next step on their journey with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I’ve missed blogging but I wouldn’t change how busy the past couple of weeks have been. These moments have been incredible and I’m grateful to be a child of God as well as part of this amazing church family. Yes, I will continually gush over my church here on my blog. When you find the right church, you celebrate it each and every day.

On that note, I’m heading off to dive into book 9 of Carlene O’Connor’s Irish Village Mystery Series. It’s called Murder on an Irish Farm. I love my cozy mysteries!!

Peace,
