Welcome to Nim’s Cozy Corner
In my post “Anniversary and Indecision” I mentioned that I’m back on Squarespace. I’m just getting around to writing this welcome post after trying to import posts from my blog on Wordpress. I managed to get three imported and they have a few formatting issues. The original Nim’s Kozy Korner is still live on Wordpress. I decided to spell “cozy” and “corner” correctly since it was available as a domain name. I was pleasantly surprised when the option to upgrade from version 7.0 to 7.1 was available. I’m learning my way around the new version so there might be changes to how the blog looks over the next few months as I toy with ideas. For now it feels good and I like the results.
I’ve been a blogger “off and on” for over 25 years. My photography site was hosted here on Squarespace back during Version 5. I loved it because it provided a professional look for my photos as well as a blog component. Having it all in one spot made sense. Now, all these years later, I’m blogging for myself in an effort to create an online journal. For years, I’ve kept a personal journal and love writing in it but I’m a visual person. Handwritten journals become unwieldy when attaching photographs to the pages. Because I enjoy image heavy posts at times as well as audio entries, Squarespace fits the bill. I’ve compared all the sites and it’s the only one that offers me everything I need because I’m picky. At my age, I feel like I’ve earned it.
Nim’s Cozy Corner is a place where I can dust off writing skills, share my walk with Jesus, life in my sixth decade and the hobbies that I enjoy. Everything centers around photography though. If I’m not photographing nature, my family or a church event, then I’m taking pictures of the food I bake and cook. I enjoy cooking quite a lot but my love language is baking. Creating a baked dessert or loaves of bread for the week is therapeutic. Since the lockdown during covid, we’ve been changing our way of living in different ways. I bake all of our bread, buns, rolls and desserts. Each month I try to add a new recipe to my list like bagels. We love bagels and have a great little bagel shop just around the corner but at $17 a dozen, it will be more affordable to make them myself. And since bagels freeze so well, I wouldn’t be baking them every week.
You can see from my photo galleries I’m a crafty person and love to make things. My husband and I were chatting the other day and he mentioned that I haven’t sewn anything in years. The last sewing project was covid masks. I think that’s what put a damper on sewing. There’s a pattern I picked up a few years ago online for a tote bag that I’m going to break out and make. Perhaps I’ll sell a few along the way. Who knows, the opportunities are endless. My daughter-in-law and I have talked about getting a cottage license for a home bakery. That’s still very much in the talking phase.
And I can’t wait to share all my favorite book series as well as books I’ll be reading throughout the year. If you’ve read this far, thank you for hanging out with me.
Peace,
