I'm Addicted to Animal Crossing New Horizons
Animal Crossing New Horizons released on March 20th when Stay-At-Home orders were going into effect all over the country. I resisted the urge to buy it because I was keeping myself busy with baking, crafting and of course World of Warcraft. WoW is my main game and I’m looking forward to the new Shadowlands expansion set to release later this year. But there was something about ACNH that made me want to play it. My wonderful husband bought if for me on March 27th and I’ve been playing a lot since then. At one point I even deleted my island data and started over. Thank the stars I wasn’t that far into the game. Since I’m not using Nintendo Online it’s strictly a solo effort so I’m puttering a long at my own pace. There are some amazing YouTube videos of players’ island designs!
These are just a few of the screenshots I’ve taken. Now that I bought a microSD card and reader I can save more of them instead of using up the limited internal memory on the Switch.
This weekend I finally unlocked terraforming in the game and I’m excited to redesign the island. Of course moving the villagers homes and the shops costs bells (in-game currency) so right now I’m catching bugs, fishing, crafting and playing the “Stalk Market” so that my bank account is fat!
The game is incredibly relaxing. I usually play Stardew Valley when I need a game that lets me unwind and do monotonous tasks. And I’ve always been hooked on games that allow me to create my own environment and decorate homes. The amount of items in this game to fit whatever decorating niche you have is INSANE!! I still need to get my house to maximum rooms. There are two more upgrades I need to purchase: upper floor and basement. This game is going to keep me busy for a very long time.
