Evening of Family Hoops
One of the great things about J’s annual “staycation” is that we’re available for sporting events. The youngest Grandnugget isn’t involved in sports yet but the grand-nieces and nephew are. From football to golf and everything in between. It was nice to get out to see a basketball game and we’re glad we did. It was a lot of fun and the girls won! Our D scored 14 points as the girls came away with a 29-21 victory over Salem Middle.

Little shot of D shooting for the hoop.

Our girl after the game! So proud of her and blessed that we were able to support her and the team by cheering from the stands!
She had a great night and so did the team. The girls really looked in sync and were moving well together on the court.
I took the Nikon P900 to see if it could produce some decent shots. It failed to get any of the action shots that I wanted. To be fair I expected this. It’s not my main camera. I purchased it two years ago in order to take pictures of the moon. The zoom 85x zoom is insanely good for those shots.
Next time I’ll take my d7000 and try using my 35mm f/1.8 and my Nifty 50. These aren’t sports lens but I’m going to see what I can accomplish with them. Perhaps this year I’ll be able to treat myself to the Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8.
The photos in this post were taken with my iPhone XR. The action shot is a bit dodgy but I managed to get her mid-air shot. The portrait of the three of us utilizes the “portrait” mode on the XR and it’s one of my favorite features.
The XR was a Christmas gift from J because I wasn’t loving my Samsung S8+ after using it for two years. The S8 is a solid phone but the MMS (multimedia messages) are complete shite on Android. This isn’t a big deal for the majority of people but for me it is. Fifty percent of my group chats are images and/or videos and there’s nothing worse than having it look like garbage. And uploading to Facebook was equally bad. So back to iPhone I went.
It was a winning evening both for the basketball team and my little iPhone. I love staycations!
