READING

61Adh3Y2K4L.jpgI found the Tracy Crosswhite series by Robert Dugoni while perusing Kindle Unlimited. Couldn’t put the books down and burned through books 1-6 in no time at all. This series checks all the boxes for me: strong female lead, crime, murder, mystery, suspense, police/alphabet organization. As of this weekend I’ve finished half the book and plan to spend Memorial Day reading the other half. Then I’ll jump right into Twisted Lies by Angela Marsons, another favorite author.

WATCHING

Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I’m addicted to UK television series, especially detective series. I started watching Vera about a month ago and finished watching the series last night. I read that the cast and crew are currently filming series 11 and I’m excited for it. Brenda Blethyn has become one of my favorite British actresses. She recently starred in a new comedy series for ITV, Kate and Koji. We loved it and are thrilled that series 2 has been confirmed. So glad we got to watch it thanks to our BritBox subscription. We subscribe to AcornTV too.

Movie watching in the aftermath of COVID shutdowns and stoppages in production, have been limited to what is released to HBO Max and OnDemand. I wish studios would release all movies in this way along with releasing to theaters. The $20 rental fee is worth it if I can view new movies from the comfort of my own home. Not everyone is going to rent the movie and then charge friends to watch it. It’s no different than paying for a UFC event. You know damn well people rent it and split the cost with friends. There are theater goers (we used to be) and there are those who would rather stay home. With ridiculous frequency of mass shootings in this country I’m fine with staying home and watching movies. Animals at the zoo have better manners than too many Americans these days.

We started watching the Harry Potter series of movies last night. These are normally reserved for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day but COVID put us in a foul mood in December 2020. We’ll watch them now and then watch again around Halloween. Our collection of Christmas movies has grown recently so we have enough to span the holiday week.

Time to wrap this post because I’ve got a brisket smoking and the kids are coming over for dinner later today.

Peace
