Football is Back Baby!!

it’s back! It’s back! The only thing that gets me through closing the pool and bidding farewell to summer is Chiefs football!! GO CHIEFS!!

The Chiefs kicked off their 2022 season with a resounding win, 44-21, against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium. We were so excited that the game was being televised nationally but we only got to watch the second and third quarters before switching back to Red Zone. We missed nearly all of the 1st quarter because the Steelers - Bengals game went into OT. That game was crazy to watch and after so many failed attempts at kicking by both teams, the Steelers eventually secured the win. We were just yelling at the TV by this point, pleading for someone to kick a flipping field goal so that we could watch the Chiefs.

I love football and the first few weeks are some of the craziest as teams settle and gel into new routines. September football is as exciting as December football. Then again, I just love football. We’re looking forward to the 2023 season because we’ll finally be able to purchase streaming of the Chiefs games since we’re on the East Coast. We refused to subscribe to DirectTV just for the football season and when streaming became wildly popular, we complained about the NFL continuing to make a deal with DirectTV. But that ends next season. First, let’s get through 2022.

The Chiefs look really good considering all the rookie talent as well as new veteran talent they’ve acquired. Mahomes looked extremely comfortable in the pocket and had time to make his throws. The Cardinals defense managed to pressure him a few times, but he was cool and collected throughout the game spreading the love to nine different receivers. We’re happy.

Very, very happy.

I finally got around to buying a frame for our Super Bowl edition of The Kansas City Star. It’s been two years. Granted, we won Super Bowl 54 and a month later we were all in lockdown courtesy of COVID 19. So, I’ve forgiven myself for not getting around to the decorating until now. The world is crazy on any given day. I’m thankful for football.

It’s crazy humid outside today as we try to get some yardwork done before it starts to rain again. At least that’s what the weather folks are calling. It seems all the weather apps I use on my phone are never right and I’m over it. In fact, I’m over my phone as well. Android or iOS, I’m done. This little Samsung A42 will be with me until it can’t update, or the screen gives out. Today I removed all the extra apps like Facebook, shopping apps and the two games that I installed. It’s going to be used as a phone, not a pocket computer.

Before I get even more off topic, I’m going to wrap this one up and go hang the newspaper front page. It’s been long enough.

GO CHIEFS!
